History of the Shadow

The USS Shadow is 8 Years Old!

The Construction for this ship, the USS Shadow, began in the mid-late 24th Century.  Originally planned to be an Akira Class, this ship was then made a Sovereign.  The reason for this was the Dominion war being over, Federation resources started to replinish.  Also, originally named the USS Fortitude, the ship became the USS Shadow after Captain Perrusio took command.  When he took command, he changed the name for one reason, in rememberence of his beloved dog.  His dog passed away just recently and decided to change the name AND registry of the ship to match the dog's name and birthday.  Shadow being her name and 51585 being her birthday.  This is no made up story for this page, she is named the USS Shadow after her Captain's dog.  In memory of Shadow, this ship lives on with his dog's soul in its very hull.

Shortly after, the USS Shadow NCC-51585-A was commissioned after the destruction of the original Shadow. An Intrepid-class starship, the Shadow was cutting edge. With the new ship, the USS Shadow made a transfer to Bravo Fleet, and was placed in Task Force 38, Defense Force Delta. It was there that Perrusio received his promotion to Commodore and would take position as Task Group Commanding Officer for Task Group Alpha.

However, soon Perrusio would retire. Taking his place, R'alka Grenn, who served as ship's XO. Grenn would bring a great deal of prosperity to the Shadow, and held the position for some time. Due to outside circumstances, however, Commodore Grenn was forced into retirement.

The next stage of the Shadow would come after Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Sumpter, long-time member and Grenn's XO, took command for the late Commodore. Under his command the Shadow saw a transformation from a PbEM simulation, to PbF, as well as a shift from Intrepid-class to Kelvin-Refit, one of only two to ever serve in the Fleet. On top of that, the Shadow would rise in the ranks under Commodore Sumpter to Task Force Second Executive Flagship. It's from here that our story continues.

In late 2383 the U.S.S. Shadow, along with the rest of Task Force 38 engaged the Borg in a devestating battle. The result was the loss of many Federation ships, including the Shadow, as well as the collapse of the Omega field, and the Iconian gateway. The next Shadow would come in the form of yet another Intrepid-class. The USS Shadow C.

In early 2384 the U.S.S. Shadow moved over to Task Force 72.

In February 2384 (2008) the Shadow was tagged as the flagship of Task Force 21 under the command of Rear Admiral Jonathan Sumpter.
